One of the problems with displaying prints online is that it is impossible to show the fine detail and depth of colour of the printed image on a computer screen. Our photographs are prepared on a hardware calibrated monitor and printed using archival quality paper and ink with a printer profile specifically designed for the paper. The resulting prints match our screen images almost exactly but please be aware that you may see colours and contrast differently especially if your monitor is not fully calibrated. No matter how the images may appear you can rest assured that the detail and depth of colour of the prints will be much better than it is possible to show onscreen.
The
screen images are reduced from the very large original files and thus
lose some detail which is especially noticeable on the captions. The captions
and prints are, however, very sharp and this illustration gives a better
idea although it is still not nearly as sharp as the print.
Please note that the mount and frame illustrations are computer generated but do match quite closely the actual mount and frame used.

Inks used are Epson Ultrachrome pigment-based inks which Epson state will last over 100 years without fading when displayed in the right conditions. Independent tests verifying this can be found here (rather technical!).
After testing over fifteen different types of paper we have chosen Permajet Portrait Classic a 300gm slightly 'warm' paper that has a subtle texture and matt finish. The specially developed coating holds detail superbly and gives excellent depth of colour and is the perfect partner to the Ultrachrome inks. The paper and ink combination is at the top end of expected longevity. The matt finish of this paper is very different from traditional photographic prints and adds a new dimension to the images. When mounted behind glass or styrene - essential to protect the print and ensure long life - the images spring to life and truly become Fine Art Photographs.
With an ink and paper combination expected to last over 100 years it would be foolish to use standard mounting materials and we therefore use only conservation quality mount and backing board. All materials that come into contact with the print are of conservation quality.
Prints are mounted onto Daler Conservation Barrier Board and the mount, or mat, is Colourmount Conservation. An archival tissue is used to hinge the prints. All materials comply with the standards laid down by the Fine Art Trade Guild for conservation mounting.
The mount is a slightly off-white textured board which compliments the paper superbly.
For convenience we have used standard paper sizes to describe the size of prints but note that the printed area may be slightly smaller than the actual paper size. All prints include a 5mm border for mounting.
| Size | Print size (inc. border) | Mount Size |
| A5 | 210mm x 148mm | 30cm x 25cm |

Our prints should be framed both for protection and best effect. Your options are as follows.
Ready Framed - We can supply all prints in professionally made matt black frames as shown in the illustrations. Our frames are custom made by a local professional framing workshop who cut and assemble our moulding. Styrene (acrylic) is used instead of glass so that the framed prints can be shipped without breakage. Styrene is as clear as glass and, as well as being both lightweight and unbreakable, also has a UV stabiliser giving further protection to the print. The only slight disadvantage is that styrene may discolour after many years due to the UV absorption but it can easily be replaced.
Custom Made - Your local framing workshop or gallery will be able to frame your prints for you. Although the most expensive option you have full control over the colour and style of moulding to suit your tastes or decor.
Standard Frames - The mount sizes we use will, in most cases, fit frames that can be purchased ready made from various sources. A good, reasonably priced, source for frames is Ikea who sell a variety of frames for the mount sizes shown above. The Ribba range is particularly good for a contemporary feel.
On each print page you will see the options shown. Click on these to see the sizes available and prices and an illustration of the finished print. The standard paper sizes are used to describe square or panorama prints but the exact size can be seen by using the size button. Clicking the BUY button will enable you to purchase the print in the format you see on screen. This will take you to a confirmation screen which will show you the item ordered and the price and give shipping options. Confirming this order will take you to PayPal where you can purchase with your credit card. You are not committed to the purchase at any stage prior to confirming the purchase with PayPal. UK purchasers may pay by cheque if preferred and instructions for payment will be given on the confirmation screen. |
